New box set: Something has found us.
Plus an interesting experiment I'd love your feedback on!
A little weekend reading
The day is finally here to drop the full and complete box set of the Gunn & Salvo series.
This is THE way to read this series. More than any other series I have, this one is episodic in nature. Essentially, each book is an episode and this box set is the complete storyline.
»You can grab your copy right here for 99¢.«
If you’ve read some of these books but not all, I’d give it a shot in this form (but I would say that, wouldn’t I?). If you felt the first book ended with too many questions hanging (and I know that many of you told me that), then this is the way to go. By the end of Book 8, all your questions will be answered and the complete storyline revealed.
Even though this is 8 books, it read essentially like a trilogy and knowing how fast many of you read, you’ll knock it out by the end of the weekend!
But even if you aren’t some speed reading devil, give this one a go. I think you’ll really enjoy it. Gunn & Salvo are a great pair of reluctant heroes that are a lot of fun to root for (not to mention all the rest of the secondary characters that flit in and out of this story).
If you’re looking for the complete blurb to get excited, well here you go:
SOMETHING HAS FOUND US.
In a distant future where humanity has colonized the stars, settlements are suddenly going dark.
When deep space trackers Gunnison Creek and Uma Salvo begin to investigate, they are swiftly scapegoated and forced to go on the run.
Before long, a chilling conspiracy begins to emerge, one that threatens humanity — and all life itself.
With the help of a teenage runaway, a celebrity technologist, and a motley assortment of fellow trackers with little respect for authority, Gunn and Salvo begin to fight back.
But faced with an ancient and seemingly invincible enemy, that might not be enough.
As the walls close in, survival may lie in the one place that has been forgotten for generations.
A place called Earth.
Meanwhile, in other news
Are you an audiobook fan? While I was able to get a new deal done on my Lucky’s Marines series, my last two series (and my upcoming one) don’t have audiobook deals secured. I’ve been toying with the idea of using AI narration for some or all of these books. I can’t decide if it’s worth the trouble, though, both for the quality of the narration and the time commitment for something that has limited appeal.
Since I have another book in the Artifact series coming out next month (Awakened, which you can preorder here, hint hint) …
…I figured it might be fun to record the prologue to that new book using AI narration and upload it here and see what you all thought of it. (This isn’t edited yet, by the way, so some elements could change. Just a little sneak peek!) Assuming you regularly listen to audiobooks, would you listen to a whole book narrated this way? Hit reply or add a comment to let me know what you think!
Last but not least
I always forget to give Daniel enough mentions. So I’d be remiss if I didn’t remind you that he has a bazillion box sets out. His latest, Marathon, has been a consistent chart topper on Amazon. This latest box set from me is actually the first one I’ve contributed to our joint page on Amazon for good long time. So go check out that series page if you want to see all the complete series box sets that are floating around out there from myself and Daniel!
(And yes, you can snag these on the subscriber hub page, too.)
Thanks for reading!
—Joshua
P.S. A little Calvin and Hobbes to brighten up your weekend…
About the audiobooks, I’m sorry but I’m not a fan of them, so I cannot give any opinion in respect to your question, Joshua. I get distracted every time I try to listen to an audiobook.
Wish you all the best with the audiobooks. 🧡🙏
I thoroughly enjoyed listening to to the sample and the AI is good. I could have listened to the whole book. I have been having challenges with my sight, so I spend a lot of time listening to books, hopefully soon in the near future you will be able to offer your readers a choice to read or listen to all your books, otherwise keep up the excellent writing!
